Abuse of Power

"Today we are going to talk about money, sex and power," a pastor said as she began a continuing education session on ethics for pastors. These are the areas where folks fall into problems. Do not cross over from moral to immoral, from ethical to unethical. Abuse of power is one of the greatest temptations for leaders. It is at the heart of more scandals in the church than anything else. Abuse of power is rampant in the Board rooms and everywhere. Do not cross over to immorality calling it something else. In our current financial crisis we are hearing more and more of what has happened to bring us to this place. Call it what it is: greed, status, corrupted notions of power.
