Peace Is Not Optional for the Church

The separation between "preaching the Gospel" and "working for peace and justice is a perversion of biblical truth. Jesus prayed: "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Mt. 6:10). We lie if we say we love God yet fail to assist neighbors in need, even immigrants, documented and undocumented (I John 4:20). Loving enemies – whether close at hand or far away – is the way to become children of God (Mt 5:44-45).
