A is for the A1C test that will tell you of your blood glucose control for the last three months. It should be 7 or less. High blood glucose can harm your heart, and the blood vessels in your kidneys, feet and eyes.
B is for your blood pressure which for most people with diabetes should be 130/80 or less. Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension) makes the heart work harder and can lead to heart attack, stroke and kidney disease.
C is for your cholesterol. LDL should be less than 100 and HDL above 40. LDL, often called “bad” cholesterol clogs your blood vessels. The HDL, “good” cholesterol, helps remove cholesterol from your blood vessels.
