Senior exercise program at indoor community pool to manage arthritis pain

Arthritis is a term that encompasses 100 medical conditions that affect approximately 46 million Americans. The most common form is osteoarthritis (OA), which is most prevalent in people over 60. Arthritis-related joint problems include pain, stiffness, inflammation and damage to joint cartilage and surrounding structures; this can lead to joint weakness, instability and visible deformities that can interfere with the most basic daily tasks. More can be done today to ease the pain of arthritis and to slow joint destruction than ever before due to developments such as new drugs and treatments, exercise programs, surgeries and self-management.
