Alzheimer’s Communities are dedicated to caring for those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. They can be small independent units, or part of an Assisted Living Community or a Nursing Center. Staff members are specially trained to identify subtle behavioral changes that indicate an advance in a resident’s medical condition requiring a change in medication or treatment. These communities try to be as home-like as possible to give some sense of comfort and reassurance to residents who may be confused, and activities are specially geared to their shorter attention span. |
