Retirement Communities, like Independent Living Communities, are senior citizen apartments (either one- or multi-level) with one important difference — there is a call button in each apartment to summon emergency aid 24 hours a day. Individuals rent apartments that are equipped for independent living, with full kitchens and washer-driers in each unit, but Florida Retirement Communities also allow for interaction with other residents. There is a main dining area where residents can purchase meals, and optional services may include laundry, housekeeping and transportation. A Retirement Community could be a good choice for someone who is fairly healthy and active and able to take care of themselves, but wants companionship and the peace of mind that comes with having a caregiver companion on-site round-the-clock in case of emergencies. |
